The Globe Inn, Chulmleigh, Mid Devon, SOLD - 17th February 2010
Closed Village Pub To Be Refurbished and Reopened
Situated in the centre of Chulmleigh in Mid Devon, The Globe Inn has recently been sold by licensed property specialists Stonesmith of Exeter.
Sold on behalf of Enterprise Inns, the business operated under temporary management for the last 9 months before it closed. The property has now been bought by local businessman Laurence Delamar.
The property is presently being completely refurbished and refitted and is scheduled to reopen in the middle of the year as a quality freehouse with an upmarket restaurant and extensive letting accommodation.
The property comprises a substantial two storey end of terrace building, originally two adjoining houses, one previously used as a shop. The other house was home to the Literary and Scientific Society in the late 19th Century. It then became a gentlemen’s club till 1970.
Mike Phillips of selling agents Stonesmith said “Following our successful marketing campaign and a best and final offers process which attracted significant levels of interest, the sale of the freehold was completed in less than 4 weeks. We wish Mr Delamar every success with his new venture.”
A freehold business, Stonesmith sold The Globe off of a guide price of £215,000.
“ Thank you to Stonesmith, you have made selling our pub so easy and stressfree ”
