Town centre restaurant sold to experienced chef

Situated in a busy town centre trading position, The Cellar Restaurant in Tiverton has recently been sold. Previously owned by locals Angela and Gary Mulligan it has been bought by Brian and Polly McCurry, through licensed property specialists Stonesmith of Exeter.

Brian and Polly, who now live in Tiverton were seeking a new business venture. Having moved to Devon from Northern Ireland 10 years ago, Brian has been a chef at some very well known hotel & restaurants in the area including Hotel Barcelona in Exeter and Woodbury Park Golf Club and Hotel at Woodbury.

Previously a daytime cafe/bar and evening tex/mex restaurant, Brian and Polly have transformed it into a fine dining restaurant with lunchtime and evening opening hours. They have introduced a new menu which consists of fresh, cooked to order, high quality meals using locally sourced produce. They have introduced some set price two and three course menus’s and operate a lunch time special 12-2pm Tues – Sat, an early bird evening special between 6 & 7pm Tues - Thurs. From 7pm Tues – Sat, the full evening a la carte menu is available. Traditional Sunday lunch is served from 12 – 3pm.

The Cellar restaurant is a purpose equipped lower ground floor restaurant with small bar, which has a ground floor entrance from the main shopping area in Tiverton town centre. The new owners have already refurbished the premises and have increased the covers in the main restaurant to 32 and plan to convert the rear room into a comfortable lounge area for pre and après dinner drinks.

Mike Phillips of Stonesmith commented “The sale of The Cellar Restaurant follows a number of notable local restaurant and café sales concluded by Stonesmith in recent months and with sales agreed on many other catering businesses throughout Devon, demand remains extremely strong.”
